Auntie Kim's Korean Restaurant

Had an immense craving for Korean food today, after introducing Kay Siong to some of my favorite Korean food places in Korea. Coupled with the fact that the contractor's office was freezing today, all I wanted was a bowl of hot soup or stew. And so I headed down to Auntie Kim's Korean restaurant at ARC (Alexandra Retail Centre) for my lunch!

And this was what I had! Awesome pawsome Kimchi Jjigae 김치찌개 set meal ($15++ available for both lunch and dinner set) on a cold wet day.

I was half expecting to only see Kimchi inside because after staying 5 months in Korea, I realised that what you order is what you get. Kimchi Jjigae would mostly only have kimchi. If there is meant to be meat, then it will be called Samgyeopsal Kimchi Jjiggae. But I was so happy when I found so much pork in my stew! And the stew was so flavorful of kimchi like those that I ate in Korea! This is pretty authentic Korean food.

And one of the best thing about Korean food is the free 'panchan' 판찬 that comes along with your order. Singaporeans love freebies, order 1 get 6 additional dishes!! Although 'panchan' is usually refillable in Korean restaurants in both Korea and Singapore, it did indicate that the side dishes were not refillable on its menu (probably because it's part of the set meal). But nonetheless, all 6 dishes were for me alone, so it was more than enough for me. All of them were yummy, I swept off entirely the green veg, the beancurd, the crunchy and refreshing thing on the bottom left, the kimchi and the odaeng 오뎅 (fish cake)! The only one I didn't touch was the marinated cucumber (ew cucumber) haha..

Overall, it definitely satisfied my Korean food craving and I would certainly return to try the other dishes when I have to go to the contractor's office alone at Alexandra road again. I have my eyes on you, Seolleongtang 설렁탕!

Busy Busy

Pretty busy the past week! Last weekend went to Genting with the IIC peeps and returned late on Sunday night, worked on Monday and had a night meeting for this Christmas party for my company. Then Tuesday I was off to Pattaya for a work trip till Friday night.

Picture of us taken in our room. Freaky thing was I set it on timer and somehow it was zoomed perfectly for us hohoho...

Actually most should know that Genting has got nothing much to do except the casinos and other normal stuff you can get anywhere like bowling, cinemas and some limited shopping. But we really wanted to get a short weekend getaway, considering how most of them are auditors (4/6), any rest is good rest. And we had a lot of fun doing stupid things together, claiming that no one knows us in Genting, wriggling to imaginary music everywhere we went. I guess having fun really depends on the company..

Genting really lives up to its name (云顶, which means top of the clouds in Chinese). It was so foggy up there our cable car ride felt like a mystical ride.

Us 3 trying to squeeze the rest out, cos they took a picture without us.. Lol at Cheryl popping out from Serene's shoulder and can only see Zhi Yu's set of teeth.

Night bowling with glow in the dark pins..

Oh my goodness we went crazy over this Mee Siam. We had it the previous night for supper (with a full stomach from eating and eating non-stop) but it was so good, we decided to come back for it for breakfast. It is Thai Mee Siam so it was like Tom Yum flavored and already spicy and sour, but adding more lime to it really elevated its flavor and opened up our appetite for more food!

Haha Geraldine looking like she is all ready for labor. Comfy and spacious Grassland bus, okay my money well spent, since I slept like a log most of the trip back to Singapore.

Then Tuesday it was off to Pattaya again for my second work trip! Quite fortunate to be have gone overseas twice even though I have only been a fresh hire on the job for 4 months.

Stayed at Holiday Inn Pattaya this time round and this was how the room looks like.

Pub below the hotel with live band, where we had our dinner cos we arrived late and my colleague was not feeling too well so we did not venture out too far.

Glorious glorious Thai food! We had lots of seafood there in Pattaya and they were all so fresh and cheap.. (anyway the company pays.. muahaha)

Can I declare my love for Thai omelette? It's so fluffy I'm gonna die!

This was where I stayed the last time I went Pattaya for work, at Hilton Pattaya. I much preferred Hilton cos it gave me a more luxurious feel and the breakfast is wayyy better than Holiday Inn's. And the location was better also because there is a shopping mall right below the hotel and it is much nearer to Walking Street, which is a famous place in Pattaya.

And at Hilton Pattaya, you get to enjoy breakfast with a view! And did I mention, the breakfast there is so much better (ok lah let me reiterate can).

Back to work at boring Singapore tomorrow! Boss, send me on more work trips pleaassee..

Now Listening To

Avicii - Wake Me Up (Vocals by Aloe Blacc)

Love this song recently! Of course the original by Aloe Blacc is great as well, but I guess Avicii made the song sound younger?

Wisin - Que Viva La Vida

Haha this is pretty ridiculous because I have absolutely no idea what he is singing. But after I heard it on Dancing With The Stars (danced by Amber Riley, Derek Hough and Mark Ballas), it got stuck in my head! And do YouTube 'Amber Riley Dancing With The Star', absolutely my favorite couple this season! If you have no idea who she is, she acts as Mercedes Jones in the show Glee.

Nonono - Pumpin Blood

OK so this song is not new too and I heard it on Dancing With The Stars too... But I just have not been listening to the radio or anything, since most of my free time I spend watching TV shows (following countless English serials and reality TV shows). AND this song is nice, so I guess that's all that matters right?

Who Am I

"WHHOO AMMM IIIIIIIII... ..."

Ok, I don't think everyone is going to get that since it is actually from a 1998 Jackie Chan movie. And I was... only 9 at that time! (Do the Math!)

So, who exactly am I? My friends call me Cheng and I am the youngest of three children. I have one elder sister and one elder brother (match the faces!).

I graduated just recently this year from a local University with a Bachelor Degree in Accountancy and am currently working at an oil and gas corporation. Being an accountant is a not-so-interesting job, but I am definitely learning a lot at my job and my brain cells are being fried every single day. What my future holds for me I am not so sure, but my current job is definitely a stable one that can feed me 3 meals a day. (That's all I ask for, sob sob...)

This is what I will look like to you when I first meet you, very prim and proper.

...

And THIS, is what happens when you know me too well. Being a Gemini, it is as if I have two personalities, which I highly believe I do. I also cannot sit still and am easily distracted, and I prefer doing multiple things at once, rather than focusing on one task, and it is 10PM now, so I have to go shower and sleep because MA ZAI AI ZOR GANG ARH (which means tomorrow must go work) and wake up at 5.45AM.

Ok, get used to this randomness if you would like to visit this space. Wahaha, I might share more about myself next time!

One Last Try

Giving blogging one last try. Let's hope I do not end up deserting it again...
